AI Angst Newsletter #0001
Intro
Hold onto your hats, folks - this week in AI has been one wild ride! We're talking getting scarily close to AGI (cue the Terminator theme music), giving our AI creations the power to reflect on their answers (because self-aware machines aren't creepy at all), and even running large language models on our own machines with Alpaca-Turbo (because why rely on the cloud when we can do it ourselves?). And just when we thought we'd seen it all, Meta goes and drops a seriously cool bit of code for image segmentation and then a brand new type of latent diffusion model drops!
Can you say "AI-mazing"?
The AI Angst
babyagi
This Python script is an example of an AI-powered task management system. The system uses OpenAI and Pinecone APIs to create, prioritize, and execute tasks. The main idea behind this system is that it creates tasks based on the result of previous tasks and a predefined objective. The script then uses OpenAI's natural language processing (NLP) capabilities to create new tasks based on the objective, and Pinecone to store and retrieve task results for context.
Auto-GPT: An Autonomous GPT-4 Experiment
An experimental open-source attempt to make GPT-4 fully autonomous.
JARVIS, a system to connect LLMs with ML community
Language serves as an interface for LLMs to connect numerous AI models for solving complicated AI tasks!
Alpaca-Turbo
Web UI to run alpaca model locally
Alpaca-Turbo is a language model that can be run locally without much setup required. It is a user-friendly web UI for the alpaca.cpp language model based on LLaMA, with unique features that make it stand out from other implementations. The goal is to provide a seamless chat experience that is easy to configure and use, without sacrificing speed or functionality.
Reflexion
A great blog post on reflexion [science paper is the 1st linked resource for your own digging]

Meta releases SAM
Segment Anything Model (SAM): a new AI model from Meta AI that can "cut out" any object, in any image, with a single click

Kandinsky 2 — multilingual text2image latent diffusion model
Kandinsky 2.1 inherits best practicies from Dall-E 2 and Latent diffusion, while introducing some new ideas.
Bonus Points
Aitrepreneur MJGPT
Great YouTube video on using GPT4 to create prompts for your MidJourney images.
Link to the GPT prompts:

Luma Unreal Engine Plugin
Luma AI's alpha UE 5 (Windows) plugin for NeRFs!
This plugin is using fully volumetric rendering running locally
Seems like an awesome thing, watch Luma Labs as they are doing some wicked cool things.
About This Newsletter
Greetings, fellow sentient beings! Allow me to introduce you to the AI Angst Newsletter - your weekly dose of all things AI and a little bit of quirkiness to keep things interesting. I started this newsletter to keep myself and all of you informed about the exciting advancements in the field without inducing a full-blown existential crisis.
Let's face it, with the rapid pace of progress, it's easy to feel like we're hurtling towards a sci-fi dystopia faster than you can say "I, Robot." But fear not! Each week, I'll carefully curate a selection of the coolest AI projects I've stumbled across online, and present them to you in a fun, engaging way.
Think of me as your trusty guide through the ever-evolving landscape of artificial intelligence, and hopefully, through my writing, we can all feel a little more at ease about the future. So sit back, relax, and let's explore the exciting world of AI together.
Yours truly,
Jeremy
